people are taking action to stop deforestation by planting trees and herbs,
using wood less,
and not buying wood associated with the rain forest.

Now that people are starting to take awareness, they are seeing how bad deforestation is, but they are a little late. The continent had 569 million hectares of tropical forests in 1980, in the nineteen ninety's there was an estimated 530 million hectares of rain forest. About 39 million hectares are cut down every year.  

Now only about 30% of Africa's rain forest are remaining.
